Trident were formed by school mates Graham Hendry and Campbell Burns in 1983, they were joined by Martin McGuire and Tommy Wilson where they became one of the best live rock bands in the Glasgow area. The band’s aim was to play real rock’n’roll music with a no nonsense approach to their live shows.
Regulars in legendary venues in Glasgow such as The Doune, Shadows and the Venue. The band opened the Radio Clyde Kelvingrove Festival in 1987, creating such an impression to the Festival organisers and the fans that they were invited back the following year to headline the festival and by this time record companies were starting to take notice.
For the next few years the band played gigs all over Scotland but they eventually started to feel they were losing their edge and for a brief period they decided to disband at the end of the 80s. The band were soon back playing live again in the early 90s, this time with ex Centurion frontman Jim Jamieson taking over on lead vocals. They recorded The album ‘The Answer’ which included some of the best solid rock songs the band had ever recorded.
These days Trident are still going strong with almost all of the original members, Campbell, Martin and Graham are now joined by Gordon Glen on bass. In recent years the band have played The Highway To Hell Festival in Blackpool, The Thunder In The Glens in Aviemore and Bonfest at Kirriemuir they also regularly pack out The Clutha in Glasgow.
